"To have been a band for 27 years, who have admittedly put out some pretty shit records, it was fucking humbling to have thousands of people wanna watch us jump around like fuckwits, when they could've been watching way younger, way more popular bands." After a pretty nasty fall in Perth where Gordy snapped his arm in half, i'm stoked he's back playing, and that he took time out to answer a couple questions
Five For Five With Philippe Pomschdi Rohr of Safe State / Grim Reality Records
Other than being a shipping (literally) wizard, and helping out with Road Rage, Philippe Pomschdi Rohr is in a gnarly Youth Crew band called Safe State & helps run Grim Reality Records. I'm pretty sure he also likes that last Joy Divi - i mean, Ceremony record. Each to their own, i guess. Give me "Violence, Violence" any day of the week. Still, he's a super good dude who i'm lucky enough to call a mate.
Five for Five with Evelinn Trouble
Zurich's Evelinn Trouble has been around music her whole life. Her mother is a Jazz Musician, and Evelinn grew up in the local squat scene. She's so far released four albums and three EP's in just over ten years (of which she's produced some herself), lived in London and she's worked with Sophie Hunger.
Five for Five with Adam Lentz of Revelation Records
Adam is an integral part of ensuring that, in my opinion, the best hardcore label in the world; Revelation Records, runs smoothly. Revelation Records is home to or released records by some of my favourite bands: Gorilla Biscuits, Judge, Burn, Ignite, Bodyjar. I could go on, but that would be boring. Oh, Battery as well. Now i'll stop. Adam is also a Tottenham Hotspur supporter, but we can't really hold that against him.
Five for Five with Ben Reader of World Sick
I first met my next guest (and good friend) Ben Reader when one of my old bands was on tour. We'd just finished playing Brisbane, Gold Coast and the surrounding areas and were on our way down the coast, south of Sydney. I don't remember how it came about but the show ended early due to someone throwing a wheelie bin through the front window of where we were playing and the show got quickly shut down. I also remember it being a charity show, so that was well weird. Basically, it was a good cause with a bunch of dickhead "rock-star" wannabe's in shit bands. And us.
Five for Five with Chelsie Bomb of Friends With The Enemy
Chelsie & I go way back. Long story short, I met her on a punk forum (remember them?) back in Australia, searching for people to start a band with. She mentioned her brother, Ben had just moved back to Sydney and i should contact him, which i did (or he contacted me - i forget). Being the small world that it is, we recognised each other after not seeing one another for, i guess, 15 years. Anyway, we both wore Dickies that were 13 sizes too big, whatever Drive-Thru (remember them too?) band we were vibing on at the time, probably The Starting Line and definitely The Movielife and we started my first band (hi Ben, hi Alex!). Cut to our first tour and Chelsie's first band band played a bunch of shows with us. Both bands broke up, i started a Dillinger Escape Plan worshipping tech metal band and she currently kicks a bunch of ass with her band "Friends With The Enemy".
